Information support and capacity building for stakeholder participation in sustainable urban development in the city of Mahilyow

Dates: 2010 – 2011

Project activities:

  1. Analysis of the theoretical approaches for sustainable urban development and existing practices (current conditions, opportunities and threats) in the city of Mahilyow.
  2. Identification of indicators of quality of life and well-being of inhabitants (needs, values, capabilities and measures of level for development of capability space).
  3. Development of informational database for sustainable management of Mahilyow city; provision of training seminars and round tables for stakeholders; publication of leaflets.
  4. Stimulation of the participatory process and creation of the network of various stakeholder groups from Mahilyow city for transition to sustainability.
  5. Creation of a platform for further cooperation and improving of the main outputs of the project.

Results:

The activities of the pilot project“Information support and capacity building for stakeholder participation in sustainable urban development in the city of Mahilyow” contributed to the development of Environmental Information System of Mahilyow.
